Movies to Look Forward To, Part Tres

The New World: Not so sure about Colin Farrell, but I think the movie will be good overall. I know lots of people (including my husband) who didn't care for the animated Pocahontas, but I liked it and the story, and I like the idea of a live-action, and hopefully historically accurate story. Fall 2005

King Kong: There's no way it will be as good as Lord of the Rings, but Peter Jackson is a great director. And I loved the original as a kid. December 14th

Undead: It's a zombie movie. So I have to see it. Limited release July 1st

Aeon Flux: Movie treatment of the MTV animated show. Charlize Theron is a great actress. And it's set in the 25th century. September 2005

Dog Soldiers - Fresh Meat: Yes, cheesy subtitle. But did you see the first Dog Soldiers? Not in theatres (at least not in the US that I saw) but I rented it at Blockbuster and it was great. But then, I'm into werewolf stories.

V for Vendetta: If you haven't read the comic, here's the quick description: "In an alternate timeline where Germany won World War II and Great Britain is now a facist state, a masked vigilante known only as "V" conducts guerrilla warfare against the government." It stars Natalie Portman and James Purefoy. To stay true to the comic, we will never see James Purefoy's face in the movie (which is sad 'cause he is hot), but I like the idea of loyalty to the comic. November 4th

Howl's Moving Castle: Anime. By Hayao Miyazaki. In the theatre. What more can I say? June 10th

I'm scratching on the door for AEON FLUX [even though I can't stand Therzon], UNDEAD, DOG SOLDIERS 2, HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE and, especially, V FOR VENDETTA! :D I'm hearing that BATMAN is good, but I'm still suspicious.

I have high hopes for Batman Begins. Mostly because of Christian Bale, and because (so I've heard) they are trying to be more serious and realistic and less superhero-ish. Which is good, because what makes Batman special is that he has no superpowers.
