Maybe I just don't like them because I'm usually disappointed by the humorous paranormal books I read. It seems like everyone online raved about Date Me Baby One More Time by Stephanie Rowe, and though I liked it, I didn't think it was anything to rave about. I guess I just can't escape the feeling that writers often try too hard when it comes to humor.

I have a real love/hate relationship with cartoon covers. Sometimes they do catch my attention and end up buying the book, but more often than not they catch it and I start backing away. Automatically. Not sure if that's because I've been burned or not, either. I shall have to think on this.
I can't stand these types of cover. There's just something chicl litish about them that makes me run for the hills. Well, that and the fact that I'm not into comedy romances. LOL.
P.S. we are starting a Fantasy/Paranormal and an Anime/Manga blog. Wondering if you are interested? I see we like a lot of the same stuff. LOL.
I like the covers...I just don't read the books. Paranormal comedy just usually doesn't work for me. A few have (MJD, for example, and I typically enjoy Julie Kenner) but ... yeah, no. They're cute, but definitely not my first choice.

I once saw an infomercial in which a bunch of girls were sitting around in silk jammies talking about the perils of body hair removal. A magic pot of goo appeared on the set. Got hair? No problem. This stuff will remove it. And without harsh chemicals! In fact, the product is so all-natural, reported one girl, that you can even eat it.
The girls proceeded to pass around the hair removal cream. Each took a finger full and sucked it into her perfectly pink bee stung mouth.
Those covers reminded me of that for some reason.

These covers make me not want to buy them. And I know it's horrible to say it, but the cover does influence me, at least a little, on my buying choices. I don't typically like romantic comedies, but if I get "tricked" into buying one and then like it, I'll go searching for more by that author. That's how I got hooked on Erin McCarthy even though most of her covers are waaaaay goofy.
Cutesy covers are a huge turn off for me. Give me a plain brown wrapper. To me... it says, "I'm a teen romance!".
It's all in the style of the "Bewitched" credits -- remember, the TV show, and I think the recent movie remake did the same thing, visually. Even the fonts are the same. I guess it's fitting, given the content, but... a little predictable.
